The Expo featured three main categories; home décor (paint, bedrooms and bathrooms, tiles, lighting, designs), kitchen equipment and art. The layout of this event was planned and arranged in a way that felt spacious, unlike most expos of its sort. Here are a few personal highlights:
I was about to turn around and depart from the Art area when I saw Stuart’s photography, which stopped me in my tracks. He captures fauna and flora in a way that does it justice. He exhibited a flower themed collection where our national flower wore the crown. The best part for me was that he knew every flower’s name, like a father knows his children. His love for nature is evident in his work and dialogue. I am looking forward to hanging my canvasses, thank you so much Stuart, I will enjoy them every day. Have a look at his website.

Paint this over almost over any surface and the transparent layer turns it into a whiteboard. Use it for children rooms, creative working spaces or just a convenient to do list on the fridge.

I do not feel the need to say anything more than, perfection! This is hands down the best one I have ever eaten. Just to clarify, this is a desert spoon next to the Crème Brule, not a teaspoon. While you are there, you might as well try their steak. However, if you can only choose one, it will only be logical to rather have the desert. Note: the Butcher shop and Grill is an upmarket steakhouse, in other words dress for the occasion, leave the children at home, bring a thick wallet and do not under any circumstances ask the chefs for a well-done steak. When it comes to fine dining and a brilliant steak, you can’t do better than this.

Yes! The décor was quirky and classy and the service friendly-ish but these factors took a backseat against the food. Everything we ate was beautifully presented, full of flavour and unique. Another deciding factor was the outside area; it’s so relaxing to sit outside and observe all the tourists and people from a fair distance and height. Be sure to mind your step up and down the very steep entrance staircase and it will be advantageous to make a booking before you pitch, to secure a table. Although some people feel that the standard is not always met, I have had an amazing experience every time. Give yourself the opportunity to decide for yourself.

I imagine myself owning a coffee shop just like this one, more or less. The building was first a house and guests can easily enjoy a quiet and private lunch in a different ‘room’. There are tables in the garden and interesting furniture, both contributing to the character and atmosphere of the coffee shop and most importantly- the cakes are on display, as it should be. The menu is compact, which allows the chefs to focus on creating a small selection of quality meals rather than a distracted variety. Have a look at their Facebook page for more current information on trading hours. This one is a real treat for a high tea or for the biggest and best slice of cake in town.
